Grocery retail outlet LoCost Food items in Rockford celebrates its grand opening

ROCKFORD — Grocery shopping just received less difficult for Georgene Callies of Rockford. 

The Jonathan Avenue resident bought a handful of goods Wednesday at LoCost Meals, which celebrated its grand opening Wednesday at 3118 N. Rockton Ave., the former web site of Ace Hardware in the Rockton Avenue Shopping Center.

“I picked up some fruit, milk and other odds and ends that I needed,” Callies claimed as she pushed her grocery cart out of the retailer. “It’s incredibly awesome, thoroughly clean and easy. I will be again.”

The opening of LoCost Meals will come 3 several years following Schnucks vacated its close by Rockton Avenue retail outlet, leaving Callies and other northwest side residents scrambling for possibilities.

The former Schnucks storefront continues to be vacant.

LoCost Foodstuff will be open up 7 times a 7 days from 8 a.m. right until 10 p.m., according to retail store manager Derek Wade.
