HAWTHORNE — Lidl, a German grocer attaining a new foothold in the U.S., will construct a market at the internet site of a previous gas station on Wagaraw Road.

It will be the borough’s only food items store — and the initially considering the fact that Grand Union shut down on Lafayette Avenue in 1982.
